With the Green Bay Packers’ season trending in a downward direction, one former Packer suggested benching Aaron Rodgers. Before Week 1 started, ESPN had the Packers seeded sixth in their power rankings. Now, heading into a Week 10 matchup with the Cowboys, Green Bay is ranked 24th. After Green Bay’s five game losing streak, they now sit 4.5 games behind the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC North.
Nevertheless, some Packers fans are still holding on to hope that Green Bay can turn their season around. However, the Packers are on the outside looking in when it comes to the NFC playoff picture. They currently sit at the 12 spot in the NFC, seven teams from each conference make it into the playoffs. But the road for Aaron Rodgers and the Packers is not going to get any easier with their upcoming schedule. Their next three games are against the Cowboys, Titans, and Eagles, who have a combined record of 19-5.
LeRoy Butler Suggests Packers Bench Aaron Rodgers
It is a very likely possibility that the Packers could lose their next three games. Green Bay Packers legend LeRoy Butler said Rodgers should be benched if they fall to 3-9.
“OK, say you lose three more games,” Butler said on CBS Sports’ Maggie and Perloff show. “Look at that in perspective. You got the Cowboys — best defense — I mean the defense — Micah Parsons, oh my goodness. And then you play, when they put my name up in the ring of honor, the Titans. They got a young quarterback. That defense gets after you as well, then you got the Eagles, best team in the league.”
“After that point, if you’ve lost those games, you’ve got to get Jordan Love in there at some point, because there’s no playoffs. I mean, there’s no playoffs, you’re not in the playoffs. You have to find out at some point can Jordan Love play because you can’t get rid of Aaron Rodgers because of his contract. But you can find a way to get Jordan Love some work to just kind of find out what you’re going to have in a few years.”
So, what do you think about what LeRoy Butler had to say? Do you think Green Bay should bench Aaron Rodgers if their losing streak continues to grow?
