Jordan Love just finished his second full season as the Green Bay Packers quarterback, and he received a challenge from head coach Matt LaFleur following their Wild Card Round loss against the Philadelphia Eagles.
LaFleur said in a recent interview that he wants Love to take on a bigger leadership role by being more vocal and demanding more from his teammates starting next season.
“I think the next step is just to continue to evolve as a vocal leader. That just comes with the position naturally. I think he’s taken steps to get there but I think he can really demand a lot. Because the locker room respects him,” LaFleur said about Love via Zach Kruse of Packers Wire.
“He’s a grinder. He’s one of the guys. That’s one of his best qualities. He is one of the guys. But when things aren’t quite right, he can voice that as well. It just means more when it comes from your quarterback than from me or one of our other coaches,” he concluded.
Green Bay Packers’ Jordan Love struggled at the tail end of the 2024 season
The Green Bay Packers finished the 2024 regular season with an 11-6 record. From Week 12 to Week 16, they scored at least 30 points to win four games, but Love and the passing game struggled over the final three games (all defeats).
Against the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card Round, Love went 20-for-33 on his passes for 212 yards. However, he had three interceptions, and none of his wide receivers breached the 50-yard threshold.
Love undoubtedly needs to get better next season, but the Green Bay Packers have to do their part by surrounding him with better weapons this offseason.
