All eyes will be on Green Bay Packers starting quarterback Jordan Love this season. The position of quarterback is easily the most important individual position in all of sports, and Love is taking over for future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers (who took over for Hall of Famer Brett Favre). Ever since he was drafted, there has been questions surrounding how good Love can be. When Green Bay traded up to draft him, there was some confusion; first, the team still had Rodgers; second, Love needed a lot of work.

Now, three years later, Love is set to take over after three years of intense study behind a four-time NFL MVP quarterback. We have not seen many glimpses of Love in game action, and the ones we have showed a mix of good and bad. However, NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner recently broke down some tape of Love’s play in 2022, and he came away very impressed.
Kurt Warner Has High Praise for Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love
Warner is doing a series of videos on YouTube called “Study Ball.” He posted a two-part analysis of Love’s film from his preseason play against the Kansas City Chiefs and his regular season play against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Warner points out some things that Love did well and also identified some areas of needed improvement:
“You see with him there is a lot of good stuff with recognition, understanding a lot of the safety movement, etc. Obviously there are some times where he tried to force the ball instead of letting the game come to him. Technique-wise, it can get away from him on the deeper balls thrown where they came out flat.
“Those are some of the things I want to see improved from him but overall, when you look at the growth he has made, there is a lot to like in the drop back game, him being able to see different indicators to get the ball out of his hands accurately.”
The deep ball is one area of improvement, but could become a massive weapon with Christian Watson downfield if he gets it right. The timing and footwork, however, are great improvements already and should give the offense a boost following mediocre quarterback play in 2022.
