Green Bay Packers: Former 3-Time Pro Bowl Wide Receiver Has Bold Declaration About Jordan Love

Aaron Rodgers trade talk has dominated the Green Bay Packers offseason. The fact of the matter is that, at some point, he will be traded to the New York Jets. Brian Gutekunst, Mark Murphy, and other Packers players have already committed to Jordan Love being the starting quarterback in Green Bay next season. Of course, the big question is, “How will he perform?” Frankly, the Packers would not be so willing to move on from Rodgers if they didn’t think Love could play just as well or, dare I say, better than him. Interestingly, more and more current and former NFL players are hopping on the Love Train, the latest of whom is three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson.

Keyshawn Johnson Declares Jordan Love Will Be a Good Starting Quarterback for the Green Bay Packers

As many know, Keyshawn Johnson has a show on ESPN called “Keyshawn, JWill, and Max.” It was on this show that Johnson made several statements regarding Love that Packers fans should find exciting:

“Yeah I think he’s gonna be alright. Yeah I think he’s going to be good. I think he will be an NFL starting quarterback. Not an NFL starting quarterback by default, but an NFL starting quarterback that’s going to win games. I’m not saying he’s gonna win Super Bowls and MVPs, but I’m saying I think he’s going to be an NFL starting quarterback that they are going to be happy with over the next eight years or so.”

Max Kellerman then asked him what he has seen from Love to be able to make that assessment. Johnson responded:

“Well, the little bit that I’ve seen is his ball placement and accuracy is there. In rhythm, he’s not hesitant. he’s calm in the pocket you know. You can tell when quarterbacks need to get rid of the ball. He’s not. Everything is smooth, everything is aligned perfectly. When I watch him against, for instance, the Kansas City Chiefs I watched him throw a corner out. He hit his back foot in rhythm.

“His receiver gets open, he places it to the sideline right where it should be. It wasn’t behind the receiver. The receiver wasn’t twisting and turning. He was able to catch it and turn and score a touchdown, that to me is a plus. I watched him also on a little stick route. I watched him hit him boom right there in the bread basket. You can just tell that he knows how to do everything from a perfect standpoint.”

Many so-called fans that want Love to fail point to the Kansas City Chiefs game, Love’s only NFL start, as a reason for their disdain. It is interesting, though, the Johnson points to a pass in that game that proved to him that Love would be a good starting quarterback in NFL.

Johnson had a word or two for those who think Love doesn’t look right as well:

“If anybody tells you that it does not look right they just hating. Because it looks right. Now will it be right? I don’t know. It all depends on what Matt LaFleur and company do. How they bring him along.”

Brian Gutekunst and company took a huge risk by drafting Love in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Now, they need to go out and make sure their gamble pays off. Love has all the tools to be a good quarterback. The Packers need to get him the offensive weapons to best utilize them.
