The Green Bay Packers Tied To Offensive 6’4″ Monster Amid Latest Report

The Green Bay Packers have essentially started playing playoff games.  The last two weeks of the season are both “must wins” if the Packers want any shot to make the playoffs.  However, this season has proved one thing in Green Bay: they have reason to be optimistic about their future.

The young core the team has established around Jordan Love over the last two off-seasons is loaded with talent.  Now, the Packers could be adding to that talent.

The NFL Staff at Bleacher Report highlighted why this move should happen:

2024 Free Agency: G Kevin Dotson, Los Angeles Rams

Jon Runyan is an impending free agent and hasn’t been much more than an average player throughout his career, including this season. Meanwhile, Dotson (27) is only a year older than Runyan (26) and is putting together a strong campaign with a strong 83.2 grade from Pro Football Focus heading into Week 16.

LaFleur used to be Sean McVay’s offensive coordinator in Los Angeles and those two come from the Shanahan coaching tree, so Dotson should have some familiarity with the system in Green Bay.

This signing might take some financial maneuvering by the Packers, as they’re estimated to have about $6.5 million in cap space to begin the offseason, per Spotrac. However, they do have a few contracts that they can get out of to save some money, most notably David Bakhtiari’s.

The Los Angeles Rams’ trade for offensive lineman Kevin Dotson has been one of the best moves this season. As a starter at right guard since Week 4, Dotson has been one of the best offensive linemen in the NFL. As a full-time starter for the Rams, Dotson has been rated the fifth-highest guard by Pro Football Focus.

While Dotson was not necessarily considered a bust in Pittsburgh, he was being phased out with the signing of Isaac Seumalo and Nate Herbig in free agency. As there were only five spots on the offensive line, someone was going to be phased out and that player ended up being Dotson.

It will be interesting to see what Dotson is offered in free agency.  The Packers keeping Jordan Love upright will be one of the most important tasks going forward.  Getting a player like Dotson would certainly do that.
