The Green Bay Packers have an ample amount of stars on their team that will set the tone for the next decade or so in Green Bay. Over the last few seasons the Packers have ushered in a new, younger era. That era got off to a great start in 2023.
However, there is one of the older stars being targeted by an NFC North Rival according to one report.
Green Bay Packers Star Being Targeted By NFC North Rival (Report)
The Athletic’s Alec Lewis did a mailbag for Minnesota Vikings fans recently. In response to a question about who the Vikings might pursue in free agency in 2025, Lewis immediately mentioned Clark.
“Two names: Kenny Clark and D.J. Reed,” Lewis wrote. “The Vikings will likely peruse the market for defensive tackles and cornerbacks next year, and these two might be the best available at their positions.”
Yeah there’s been talks,” Clark told the media. “You know, it’s still ongoing… They’re talking though, and that’s the only thing I got on that.”
When asked about if he wanted to stay in Green Bay, Clark made it clear that he wanted to stay with the team.
“100 percent. I love it here, I love my teammates, I love the organization…so hopefully everything will work out.”
Will The Packers Extend Kenny Clark?
It’s surprising that the Packers have so much depth on the defensive line after years of struggling up front.
Devonte Wyatt began to show some promise in his second NFL season. As a rookie, he only had 1.5 sacks; this past year he finished with 5.5. As a third-year player, he may be able to make even bigger strides in 2024.
Karl Brooks, a late-round rookie last year, also contributed some surprising contributions to the Packers.
However, none of that erases the fact that Clark has been the vocal point of this defensive line for years. Kenny Clarks just don’t grow on trees. Wyatt would have to show some serious growth to emerge as the next star.
The Packers also have a history of paying their own players. It is likely they’ll at least try to keep him in town for another contract.
