It is safe to say that Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Kenny Clark is not dreaming of playing in Brazil again. It is not because of the people or the atmosphere in the South American country but because of the field that the Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles players played on in Week 1 of the 2024 NFL regular season.
Clark did not hold back about his criticism of the playing surface at Corinthians Arena in São Paulo.
“It was trash, man,” Clark said about the field during a recent appearance on Clubhouse Live.
“I’ve played in snow, I’ve played in rain, I ain’t never played on a surface like that. There was like clay coming out of the ground. You got holes in the ground. It was a tough surface to play on.”
The Packers-Eagles game was the first ever by the NFL in Brazil, so it will serve as a blueprint for any future contest that the league would hold there.
“I can see how soccer players can play on it because you can slide pretty far,” Clark added.
Green Bay Packers suffer painful loss in Brazil to start 2024 NFL season
The Packers, despite scoring nearly 30 points, ended up losing to the Eagles to the tune of a 34-29 score. Making their Brazil experience worse was the injury suffered by quarterback Jordan Love near the end of regulation
Clark will surely love playing at Lambeau Field again this coming Sunday when the Packers host Anthony Richardson and the Indianapolis Colts.
