The Green Bay Packers have gotten incredibly young very quickly. Once the oldest team in the NFL, Green Bay only has four players over the age of 28. While this youth movement is exciting and, hopefully, is the foundation for years and years of sustained success, it is hard to replace good veteran leadership. That is why many fans want the front office to bring back tight end Marcedes Lewis. As it turns out, fans are not the only ones who want Lewis back. Two current Packers players took to Twitter last night to advocate for Big Dog’s return to Green Bay.
Keisean Nixon and Rasul Douglas Want Marcedes Lewis Back on the Green Bay Packers
All Pro return specialist Keisean Nixon tweeted the following:
I Only Got 1 Wish Greenbay Bring 89 Back🤞🏾🏁

Rasul Douglas agreed:
Same Brodie . HES THE definition of a LEADER https://t.co/mBTTHOLR5L

It is really a testament to how great of a leader Lewis is that two players, on the defensive side of the ball, are calling for the team to re-sign him.
Can the Green Bay Packers Bring Back Marcedes Lewis?
According to reports, Lewis is open to a return to Green Bay. However, he made about $8 million over the last two seasons and just under $4 million last year. The Packers simply do not have much cap space, and what little they do have they may not want to spend on a soon-to-be 39 year-old tight end.
That being said, the Packers could use a veteran leader like Lewis. With two brand new tight ends in Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft, Lewis can be a mentor and pseudo position coach. It would also benefit Jordan Love as Lewis is an excellent blocker.
The players want Lewis back. The fans want Lewis back. It sounds like Lewis is open to coming back.
Get a deal done.
