There have been multiple Green Bay Packers and coaches who have garnered the ire of fans following the team’s 31-27 loss to the Chicago Bears in the NFL Playoffs. Brandon McManus, who missed three kicks and left seven points on the field, has been one of the main targets of negativity, as has been Packers head coach Matt LaFleur.
Another player who garnered criticism during and after the game was cornerback Keisean Nixon, who saw 2025 as his first season as Green Bay’s “CB1,” or top cornerback, tasked with being the primary defender on opponents’ best wide receivers.
His leap out of the way of Chicago’s running back, who was bowling into the end zone for a touchdown, even drew the ire of former Packers left tackle David Bakhtiari during the game. And the comments Nixon has made since the game ended has not sat well with fans.
Green Bay Packers cornerback Keisean Nixon wants a new contract and a raise

In the days that have followed Green Bay’s humiliating loss, Nixon has made several pretty bold claims about the quality of his play this year. Earlier today, it was reported that he says he had a “really good” year and that he accomplished all the goals he had for himself.
What is more, in a recent article published by Matt Schnediman of The Athletic, Nixon told reporters he plans on asking the Packers for a new contract with a pay raise:
“Most likely. We’ll see. I don’t know. We’ll see. I’ll talk to my agent and stuff like that, but I love Green Bay. This is where I wanna be. I don’t really wanna go nowhere else, so we’ll see. We’ll have talks, for sure, but this is definitely where I wanna be.”
Nixon has just one season remaining on the three-year $6 million contract he signed with Green Bay in March of 2024.
For what it is worth to those fans wondering: Nixon’s cap hit in 2026 is just $7.1 million while his dead cap hit is just over $2.1 million.
In other words, the Packers could save $5 million on their 2026 salary cap by cutting him.
It remains to be seen, though, if that is part of their offseason plan to get under the cap.
