With the Green Bay Packers turning more to their ground attack for offense in Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts, the team made sure that star running back Josh Jacobs got a ton of touches. Jacobs, who rushed only 16 times in the Packers’ loss in Brazil to Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles, was running with the ball all afternoon versus the Colts.
Jacobs got 32 carries in the Colts game and coveted them into 151 rushing yards. His longest run of the matchup went for 34 yards.
Despite the relatively high temperature at Lambeau Field and the heavy workload, Jacobs said he was still feeling fresh enough to play another game right after the 16-10 victory over Indianapolis.
“I feel like I could play another half,” Jacobs told reporters in the locker room following the win against the Colts, per Ryan Wood of USA Today.
“It was hot. It was hot, especially in warm-ups, but body-wise, I feel good, man. I told them, I don’t think I’ve ever had a game where I came out kind of like this clean. So, I feel good.”
Will the Green Bay Packers get Josh Jacobs the same workload in Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans?
If Malik Willis gets another start in lieu of Jordan Love in Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans on the road, Jacobs can be expected to be extra busy on the ground again. Willis was limited to only 16 pass attempts in Week 2, as the Packers tried to minimize his chances of committing turnovers when throwing the ball.
So far in the 2024 NFL season – his first with the Packers – Jacobs has 235 rushing yards on 48 carries for an average of 4.9 yards per rushing attempt.
