There will be a lot of players on the Green Bay Packers who will be drafted onto fantasy football teams this season. The top two fantasy players on Green Bay’s roster in drafts will likely be quarterback Jordan Love and running back Josh Jacobs.
Some other players on the Packers roster who could get drafted are wide receivers Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, and Jayden Reed. Other Green Bay Packers players may wind up on other fantasy football rosters.
A couple of waiver pick-ups this season on the Packers could be rookie running back Marshawn Lloyd, tight end Luke Musgrave, and wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks. The defense/special teams of the Green Bay Packers could also be another interesting fantasy football option this season depending on how it adjusts to the new 4-3 scheme.
Fantasy Pros Predicts That Green Bay Packers Rookie Running Back Marshawn Lloyd Will Be the Starter By Thanksgiving Over Josh Jacobs
At the moment, Josh Jacobs is the starting running back for the Green Bay Packers. On the depth chart heading into training camp, veteran A.J. Dillon will be the backup, and rookie Marshawn Lloyd is the third-string running back.
A lot can change between now and the start of the 2024 NFL regular season. Fantasypros.com staff predicts that Josh Jacobs will lose his starting status by Thanksgiving. The staff wrote:
“Jacobs signed a massive four-year deal with the Packers in free agency, improving his perceived dynasty value. However, Green Bay can easily get out of his contract after the upcoming season. The veteran running back was outstanding in 2022 but severely regressed last year, seeing his yards per rushing attempt decline by 29%, his explosive run rate slip by 52%, and his yards after contact per attempt drop by 29% (per Fantasy Points Data). Don’t be surprised if MarShawn Lloyd replaces Jacobs as the team’s starting running back by Thanksgiving.”
Josh Jacobs last season with the Las Vegas Raiders rushed for 805 yards on 233 carries and six touchdowns, along with averaging 3.5 yards per carry. He also caught 37 passes for 296 yards receiving and zero touchdowns, along with averaging 8.0 yards per catch.
Marshawn Lloyd in 11 games last season with the USC Trojans rushed for 820 yards on 116 carries and nine touchdowns, along with averaging 7.1 yards per carry. He also caught 13 passes for 232 yards receiving and zero touchdowns, along with averaging 17.8 yards per reception.
Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich does want to use the rookie running back in the offense quite frequently. It seems like a bold take that Josh Jacobs would lose his starting job by Thanksgiving to Marshawn Lloyd, but it would not be a surprise to see them split carries for the majority of the season.
