The Green Bay Packers made a splash in the last offseason when they signed former Las Vegas Raiders star running back Josh Jacobs to a four-year deal worth $48 million. There were questions at that time about whether Jacobs could adequately provide what the Packers would be missing following the departure of Aaron Jones.
Through two games in the 2024 NFL season, it seems that Jacobs is doing just fine with his role as the top rushing weapon for Green Bay’s offense that heavily relied on his legs in Week 2’s home game against the Indianapolis Colts.
In fact, Jacobs just broke a Packers franchise record that stood for nearly three decades.
Via Aaron Nagler of CheeseheadTV:
Josh Jacobs posted 151 rushing yards on 32 carries against the Colts, giving him 235 rushing yards this season. That is the most in franchise history by a player in his first two games in a Green Bay uniform, topping the previous high of RB Raymont Harris (158 yards in 1998).
Green Bay Packers might have the same approach with Josh Jacobs in Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans
Jacobs’ 32 carries in the Packers’ 16-10 win versus the Colts was largely due to Malik Willis starting in place of the injured Jordan Love, who could be missing another game in Week 3. The Packers will be in Nashville this coming Sunday to face the Tennessee Titans and with Willis potentially drawing another start under center, Green Bay could get Jacobs another tremendous workload on the ground.
Jacobs can have another big day in the Titans game, as Tennessee just surrendered 101 rushing yards and a touchdown on 24 New York Jets carries in Week 2.
