The Green Bay Packers drafted offensive tackle Jordan Morgan 25th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft out of Arizona. Morgan at the time was a surprising pick for Green Bay. This offseason, the Packers had a massive need for cornerback and there were many available defensive backs with that selection at the time.
The offensive line did have some issues last season, but the defensive back position felt like a bigger issue than the offensive line. They had various injuries last season at the cornerback position, especially to Jaire Alexander and Eric Stokes. The Green Bay Packers lost one of the key members of the offensive line this offseason. Guard Jon Runyan Jr. signed with the New York Giants instead of going to the New York Jets.

Green Bay’s offensive line has been a storyline entering this training camp period. Many people are wondering where on the offensive line Jordan Morgan will play this season.

When Morgan was drafted, a lot thought he was going to compete with Rasheed Walker for the left tackle spot. However, it appears as if Rasheed Walker is going to be the starting left tackle for Green Bay. Walker started in many games at that spot last season protecting quarterback Jordan Love.
The Packers on Tuesday decided to place Morgan at right guard in place of Sean Rhyan. Offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich believes that this will be the best spot for him to potentially win the starting job.

Offensive Coordinator Adam Stenavich said to The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman about Morgan playing right guard:
“He’s done good. He’s flashed some really good things. There’s a lot of technique stuff that he still needs to learn, just like any young offensive lineman, and especially him going from tackle to guard, there’s a learning progression there that you just have to go through. Good news is he’s blocking some really good D-linemen, so that’s good. He’s going to get good exposure to that and play against really good competition in practice.”
It would be a good thing if Morgan was able to win the starting right guard job out of camp. There were many people in the offseason labeling him as a potential bust, but playing right guard may not be a bad thing for Jordan Morgan. Some thought that he could maybe go to right tackle instead of left tackle, but playing guard is going to be a smart move for the Packers.
