The Green Bay Packers returned to their winning ways in Week 5 of the 2024 NFL regular season, as they edged out Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams in Inglewood last Sunday to the tune of a 24-19 score. The victory over the Rams also was the Packers’ first with Jordan Love starting under center.
Love struggled with inaccuracy on his passes for most of the Rams game. There was also the infuriating interception he threw in the second quarter that got converted into a touchdown by Rams defensive back Jaylen McCollough.
Green Bay Packers HC Matt LaFleur shares his thoughts on Jordan Love’s INT
Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur surely was not a big fan of that blunder but also appreciated the way Love marched the Packers to multiple scoring drives after the pick-six.
Via the Associated Press (h/t ESPN):
“I think that drive, when you throw a pick-6, that’s never fun. But to be able to take us down there in the 2-minute drive and get some critical points when points were really tough to come by, I just think that’s what he’s all about,” Packers coach Matt LaFleur said. “And when you get a bunch of tough-minded guys I think that kind of just manifests itself and it’s contagious.”
Love finished the games against the Rams with 224 passing yards, two touchdowns and an interception on 15-of-26 pass completions. He got sacked twice for a loss of 27 yards. After missing two games due to a knee injury, Love has gone 1-1 as a starter. In Week 4, Love and the Packers fell prey to the Minnesota Vikings in a 31-29 loss at Lambeau Field.
There’s still room for improvement for the 25-year-old quarterback, as he continues to find his rhythm under center. On the season, Love has 873 passing yards, eight touchdowns, and five interceptions.
