Green Bay Packers: Jordan Love Update Has Fans Hoping for Week 2 Miracle

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is not expected to see action for at least a few weeks after he suffered a brutal knee injury in Week 1’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The Packers have already said that Malik Willis will be starting under center this coming Sunday for the team’s season home opener versus the visiting Indianapolis Colts at Lambeau Field.

However, the door appears to be left slightly open for a potential surprise start by Love in Week 2 even though he did not practice at all on Wednesday.

Via Ryan Wood of USA TODAY:

“Matt LaFleur says Jordan Love does not need practice reps to play in a game. He’s leaving the door open for his quarterback this week. He’s progressing. Still sounds very much like a far outside chance Love would play this week vs. Colts.”

Jordan Love is still a long shot to play in Week 2’s Green Bay Packers vs. Colts game

The Packers may have to play it very conservatively with their approach to Love’s injury. While it’s difficult to trust the unproven Willis at the moment, the Packers can’t risk further injury aggravation to Love’s knee by forcing him to see action as soon as Week 2. Then again, there’s really no significant indication that Love will be available to suit up against the Colts, who also lost in Week 1 at the hands of the Houston Texans.

Green Bay will have to rally behind Willis and trust him that he can be at least a serviceable signal-caller for the Packers this coming Sunday. He was acquired by the Packers from the Tennessee Titans via a trade just before the season, with Green Bay sending a seventh-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft to the NFC South team.
