The Green Bay Packers punched their ticket to the NFL Playoffs for the second season in a row by defeating the New Orleans Saints by the score of 34-0 on Monday Night Football. Green Bay scored a touchdown on each of their first three possessions of the game and carried a 21-0 lead into halftime.
Quarterback Jordan Love was 16/28 on his passes for 182 yards and a touchdown thrown to second-year wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks. Jayden Reed, another second-year wide receiver, became the first wide receiver in franchise history to put up over 900 all-purpose yards in his first two seasons by catching three passes for 76 yards and rushing once for five yards.
Running back Josh Jacobs, who signed with Green Bay in free agency this past offseason, scored a rushing touchdown for the sixth consecutive game. The franchise record of consecutive games with a rushing touchdown is seven, which is held by Hall of Famer Paul Hornung.
Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Thinks the Team Can Be Even Better
Green Bay’s 34-point performance on Monday night marked the fifth-straight game in which they scored 30 or more points. They are 4-1 in those games, with the only loss being a 34-31 defeat to the NFC’s top seed, the Detroit Lions.
Many fans, though, felt like the Packers left some points on the field last night by not playing their best football. And as good as the win was, Love agreed. During his postgame press conference, the Packers quarterback was quoted as saying:
“I still think there are a lot more points ahead for us. I don’t believe the offense is too far away from functioning at full strength. I just think it’s little things that, when we start getting more consistent and focusing on them, the sky’s the limit for the offense.”

There were multiple passes that Love threw that, had they been more accurate, could have led to big plays and/or touchdowns. Indeed, the offense is not running at its full potential yet.
That being said, it is quite astonishing that Green Bay’s offense has been able to score 30 or more points in five consecutive games despite the fact that they are still making mistakes.
This should make other NFL teams that have qualified or will qualify for the postseason very nervous. Even when they are not playing perfectly, Love and his offense are capable of putting up a lot of points.
Perhaps a return to the Super Bowl is not out of the question.
