Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love played well in his first two starts but has struggled in his last three starts. Green Bay is 2-3 on the season, and the jury will be out on him for the remaining 12 games of the 2023 NFL regular season. Love is 24 years old and will be a free agent after the 2024 season.
So far this season, Jordan Love has completed only 55.6% for 1,083 yards, eight touchdowns, and six interceptions. He needs to work on getting off to better starts and completing more passes. Love has some very good receivers on the roster, like Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and rookie Jayden Reed.
This is the first season that he is the full-time starter at the quarterback position since Aaron Rodgers was traded away to the New York Jets in the offseason. Will Jordan Love be behind center next season for Green Bay or is it going to be someone else? Who could it possibly be?
The Green Bay Packers Best Option to Replace Jordan Love Would be Finding a Quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft
Green Bay traded up in the 2020 NFL Draft in the first round to draft Love. He sat three years behind Rodgers. Jordan Love may need more reps as the season goes and will see if he does better in the first half of games. If that doesn’t improve within the course of the season, they can very well use one of their selections next season on a quarterback.
They will have their first-round pick this season. It is possible they may not be able to land Caleb Williams of USC or Drake Maye of North Carolina, but there may be some other good options available for them. Some of the other names include Michael Penix Jr. of Washington, Quinn Ewers of Texas, and J.J. McCarthy of Michigan.
This is going to be a quarterback-rich class in 2024. There will be NFL teams going after quarterbacks like crazy, and Green Bay Packers rivals can draft them as well.
Kyler Murray Trade
The Cardinals could possibly move on from Kyler Murray this offseason, especially if they land one of the top picks in the 2024 NFL Draft to draft a quarterback. Murray is signed for several more years, and would Green Bay be willing to take on his contract?
He is only 26 years old and very talented. The Packers’ offense could be very electric with him behind center. Sayre Bedinger of lombardiave.com said:
“One of the more fascinating scenarios to watch league-wide is going to be what the Arizona Cardinals end up doing with Kyler Murray. Murray was the top pick in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Cardinals when they were hopeful they could pair him with one of his old college coaches–Kliff Kingsbury–and have long-term success at the NFL level. They had success, but it wasn’t of the long-term variety. Now, Murray is rehabbing his way back from a torn ACL suffered late last season. The Cardinals currently have Jpshua Dobbs operating their offense and Murray’s situation could be up in the air if Arizona winds up with one of the top two picks in the NFL Draft.”
Kyler Murray will have suitors across the league this offseason, not only the Green Bay Packers.
Dak Prescott Could be On the Trade Block
Prescott is 30 years old, and he can be a free agent after the 2024 season with the Dallas Cowboys. If they don’t reach the NFC Championship Game this season, Dallas can move on from him and potentially put him on the trade block. Dak Prescott could have very well hit his ceiling with the franchise that expects a Super Bowl Title or bust.
Prescott could be a decent option over Jordan Love, but it would be better to have Love for another season over him. Dak Prescott is going to be another interesting situation to watch for across the league. The Green Bay Packers should move on from Jordan Love after this season if he doesn’t improve at all and go a different route at the quarterback position.
