NFL: The Green Bay Packers and their fans are incredibly excited about what they have seen in Jordan Love. Through two pre-season showings, Love has accumulated 130 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions. He has completed 12 of his 18 passing attempts and has a quarterback rating of 124.7. Following the Packers’ pre-season bout with the Patriots, Matt LaFleur made a pretty significant announcement regarding the new starting quarterback.
Green Bay Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur Announces Jordan Love Will Play In Pre-Season Finale Vs The Seattle Seahawks
Packers coach Matt LaFleur said on Sunday that he’s planning to play Love in the preseason finale against the Seahawks.
“Him playing isn’t just about him playing,” LaFleur said, via Mike Spofford of the team’s website. “It’s about the other 10 guys out there, just making sure we’re a cohesive unit. Because we do have a lot of young guys.
“It’s about getting Jayden Reed more reps and our two young wideouts, our two young tight ends. It’s always about the collective unit going out there and trying to continue to build a cohesiveness.”
Green Bay will host Seattle at Lambeau Field next Saturday at 1 p.m. ET.
What Has Jordan Love Shown The Packers So Far This Pre-Season?
“At this point, I think I’m definitely ready for Week 1 and to carry on throughout the season,” Love said after Saturday’s game. “I think these first two games were a lot of good work. Obviously, getting the [joint] practice in with Cincy and with the Patriots, as well, but I think playing in that last game — me getting more reps, just getting more comfortable, seeing new looks, going against a different team — so I don’t think it would hurt.”
In five series over the first two preseason games, Love has completed 12 of 18 passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns. He doesn’t have a turnover, although a botched shotgun snap from center Josh Myers ruined Saturday’s first drive.
The team and fans alike are ready to see Love week one against the Chicago Bears. The team clearly supports their new starting quarterback. It is not difficult to see that Love has created this environment on purpose. Immediate after Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets, he got together with veteran running back Aaron Jones to start working on drills and plays together in California. There were at least two other instances throughout the offseason where Love invited his teammates to California to keep on working and building their chemistry.
