The Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Rams are two teams hoping to bounce back in 2023. The Packers finished 8-9 on the season and just missed the playoffs. The Rams had a severe Super Bowl hangover from 2021 and wound up finishing 5-12 in 2022.
The Packers are hoping to see enough out of Jordan Love this year to believe he could be the franchise quarterback going forward. After sitting behind Aaron Rodgers for three years, many believe he is ready for that responsibility. The weapons the Packers surround Love with will be crucial for his success, and there is one name rumored to be on the trade block that would bolster the team’s pass catchers.
Los Angeles Rams’ Wide Receiver Van Jefferson Has Long Been Rumored To Be On The Trade Block This Off-Season
Two veteran wide receivers were added earlier this off-season by the Los Angeles Rams. Tyler Johnson, formerly of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Demarcus Robinson, formerly of the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens, played wide receiver for both teams.
In the modern NFL, it is impossible to have too many pass catchers, but doubling down at the position suggests dissatisfaction with the top five or six players.
According to fans, the additions of Johnson and Robinson indicate that the team is prepared to trade a wide receiver. Many believe Jefferson could be the odd man out in 2023 as he enters a contract year.
Green Bay Packers Add Van Jefferson To Offense In This Bold Trade Proposal
Christian Watson (24), Romeo Doubs (23), and Jayden Reed (23), figure to be the Packers’ top three wide receivers. The offense would benefit from adding Jefferson (27) because he is a veteran with explosive skills.
Early in the season, his ability to make big plays would be a great fit with the Packers offense. The young offense may take a few weeks to get clicking during the regular season, even though Love has looked great so far in the preseason. The addition of Jefferson would be a huge weapon for this team.
The 2021 season was Jefferson’s best ever. He caught 50 passes for 802 yards and six touchdowns. In that year, he contributed to the Rams winning the Super Bowl. With 16 yards per catch, he was an exceptional vertical threat. In 2022, however, his play regressed. There were just 24 receptions, 369 yards, and three touchdowns on his record. Aside from that, he was limited to just 11 appearances out of 17 for the team due to injuries. His value could be relatively low when the Packers make an offer.
