Green Bay Packers: Jordan Love Addresses Controversial Josh Jacobs Comments Regarding Team’s Wide Receivers

Earlier this week, Green Bay Packers Pro Bowl running back Josh Jacobs caused a stir online following comments he made on the Bill Simmons podcast, “No BS.” During his interview, he said that “I think we need a guy that’s proven to be a #1 WR already.” However, before the video and audio of his interview was posted online, multiple NFL reporters misquoted him as saying “I think we need a real wide receiver.”

Obviously, those are two very different statements with two very different messages.

Regardless of what was said, unfortunately what matters now is how it is perceived. Dontayvion Wicks‘ reaction on social media seemed to indicate he was not too fond of the comments.

Star quarterback Jordan Love, however, has a different, albeit neutral, view of it.

While being interviewed by ESPN’s NFL Live panel on Thursday, Love was asked about Jacobs’ comments and if he felt the team needed a true number one wide receiver.

    Love responded:

“If you add a really good player to a really good offense, I think the sky’s the limit.”

“Yeah, I think we have different guys who can play and do different things better than other guys. I think we have a deep wide receiver room, obviously like you mentioned Tucker Kraft, but I think we have a lot of guys that can grow into that role.

“I think we’re still young, we’re still building this thing, and guys are still proving themselves.

“So, you know, Josh made those comments, and I’m always going to ride for my guys. I love the guys we have. I always say, if you add good players to an already good offense, you have a better team.”

It certainly does not sound like Love hates the idea of signing another wide receiver, but he sure was more diplomatic in his response saying that he loved the group of guys he has already and that he believes a lot of them could grow into that role as well.
