The Green Bay Packers entered Friday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles full of excitement, as they looked to start things off with a huge victory in Brazil. Instead, they flew back home with a 0-1 record.
Even more concerning at the moment is the status of star quarterback Jordan Love, who suffered a lower-body injury late in the Eagles game.
Love injured his left knee during the final Packers drive of the contest. He stayed on the ground for several minutes while in pain before getting up and walking to the sidelines.
It was later found out that Love suffered a sprained MCL, which is a lot better than what many feared it to be.
However, Love is not expected to see action for weeks to come, according to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.
#Packers QB Jordan Love’s initial timetable for return is in the 3-6 week range, per sources. And there’s some early optimism he could return sooner than later, pending a second opinion.
In the 34-29 loss to the Eagles, Love passed for 260 yards and two touchdowns with an interception on 17-of-34 completions.
Green Bay Packers to go with Malik Willis?
With Love sidelined with an injury, it appears that Malik Willis, who had just been acquired by the Packers shortly before the start of the 2024 NFL season via a trade with the Tennessee Titans, will be the temporary answer under center for Green Bay while the team’s QB1 is out.
Unless the Packers find another quarterback in the free-agent market (or make another surprising trade), Willis is expected to start for Green Bay in Week 2 versus the Indianapolis Colts at Lambeau Field.
