The Green Bay Packers fell to 11-6 on the season with their 22-21 loss to the Chicago Bears at home at Lambeau Field in Week 18 to end the 2024 NFL regular season. It is the first time that Green Bay has lost to Chicago in the Matt LaFleur era and snapped the Bears’ 11-game losing streak.
The Packers finish the 2024 a woeful 1-5 against the rest of the NFC North, their only win the result of a blocked field goal during the closing seconds of Week 11.
To add injury to injury, the Packers saw two of their most important offensive players, wide receiver Christian Watson and quarterback Jordan Love, taken out of the game early with injuries. Love hurt the elbow and his throwing arm while Watson suffered a non-contact injury to his knee.
Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Should Be Good for the NFL Playoffs
Love was injured partway through the second quarter when he was taken to the ground by a bears defender. At first, many thought that he had hurt his hand by hitting against a Chicago helmet when he released the ball.
Later, though, it was determined that the injury was a result of him hitting his elbow on the ground. When he exited the game, of course, many fans were concerned because the NFL Playoffs start next week.
Fortunately, after the game, LaFleur told the media that Love will be good to go next week when the Packers travel to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles in the Wild Card Round.

Love also told reporters after the game that he feels good about his odds of playing next week.
Of course, this was great news for Packers fans. Or at least one would have thought so.
Green Bay Packers Fans React to Massive Jordan Love Injury Update
Rather than being glad that their starting quarterback avoided a major injury, many fans shockingly reacted with disdain:
I’d honestly rather go with Willis at this point. Neither of them are beating the Eagles but Willis can raise his trade value and Love won’t further injure himself.
— Better Call Sal (@BetterCall_Sal1) January 5, 2025
No. He’s not. Start Willis. Don’t bet this team. Cost people money for this type of game.
— tnerb (@tnerb) January 5, 2025
Someone explain how he is better than Willis ?
— Gary🇺🇦 (@Rodgers_rules) January 5, 2025
If he continues his timid play, Willis could do better. Love has regressed.
— Tbone (@tay88792724) January 5, 2025
Play Willis instead.
— Lily Johnson’s Nasal Drip (@lily_drip56270) January 5, 2025
As one can see, many fans are calling on the Packers to start Malik Willis at quarterback instead. Of course, that will not happen, as Love is going to be healthy enough to play and has had an overall good season.
The fact that Green Bay is paying him $55 million also may play a small factor into that decision.
