Jordan Love has been the full-time starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers since the 2023 campaign. But he still seems to be in the process of getting used to the life of a QB1 in the league.
“I just take moments to be like, ‘Man, I’m an NFL starting quarterback,’” Love said, per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. “‘I’m living the dream.’”
Jordan Love is living the dream, but there is more for him and the Green Bay Packers to aspire
After spending his first two seasons in the NFL in the shadows of Aaron Rodgers, Love has truly come into his own, reciprocating the trust the Packers gave him to be their QB1 with great overall play that year. In 2023, Love passed for 4,159 yards and 32 touchdowns against 11 interceptions while completing 64.2 percent of his throws.
The Packers signed Love to a four-year extension deal worth $220 million last July, a sign that they believe he is a long-term answer under center for Green Bay, which had been blessed with franchise quarterback play from Brett Favre and Rodgers. Will Love ever be on the same level as Favre and Rodgers? That remains to be seen, but the goal is not to be like those guys but to lead the Packers to a Super Bowl win.
If the 2023 season was Love’s breakout year, 2024 will be where he’s pressured to prove that last season was not a fluke.
The Packers will open their journey in the 2024 campaign this coming Friday when they square off against the Philadelphia Eagles in Sao Paolo, Brazil.
