The Green Bay Packers announced this week that their starting quarterback, Jordan Love, had cleared concussion protocol and could play in Week 18 when the team visits the Minnesota Vikings for the finale of the 2025 NFL season. However, as they have already clinched a spot in the postseason, Clayton Tune will be starting for the Packers instead of Love.
This decision came not only as a result of the Packers having clinched a playoff spot, but also because of the fact that Green Bay has been decimated by injuries over the past several weeks. Indeed, they want to ensure that their roster is as healthy as possible when the playoffs begin.
As a result, Love’s third regular season as the Packers’ starting quarterback has come to an end.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love compares favorably to Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers

One of the most difficult things for Love as Green Bay’s starting quarterback has been the fact that his tenure comes on the heels of those of two legendary figures. Prior to Love, Pro Football Hall of Famer Brett Favre spent 15 seasons as the Packers’ starter, and he was followed by future Pro Football Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers.
Due to this fact, it has become impossible to watch Love play without comparing his production to those of both Favre and Rodgers.
And so, it behooves fans to understand just how good Love has been in comparison to those two all-time greats:
| Brett Favre | Aaron Rodgers | Jordan Love | |
| Completion % | 62.4% | 64.7% | 64.5% |
| Passing Yards | 10,412 | 12,394 | 10,929 |
| Touchdowns | 70 | 86 | 80 |
| Interceptions | 51 | 31 | 28 |
| Passer Rating | 83.0 | 99.4 | 97.8 |
As one can see from the table above, Rodgers has slightly better numbers, though not by much in most categories. He has a clear advantage in passing yards, but one must take into account the fact that the offense Love is playing in is much different and more reliant on the run game. Additionally, Rodgers played in three more games than Love, who has missed some time with injuries.
However, one can also see that Love’s numbers are far superior to those of Favre over the same span of time.
In other words, Love has been just as good, if not better, than the Packers could have hoped for when they made him the starting quarterback, and is only getting better.
This is not to say that Green Bay has their third consecutive Hall of Famer, but it is a clear indication that they hit another home run at the position.
