The Green Bay Packers suffered their first loss of the season against the Atlanta Falcons in Week Two.  After an impressive first three quarters, the team fell apart in the fourth.  Going into the final quarter the Packers had a 24-12 lead, however, the Falcons scored 13 unanswered points in the fourth quarter including a field goal with seconds remaining.

The Packers’ defense gave up 446 total yards to a Desmond Ridder led offense.  That included 211 rushing yards.  The Falcons scored on their last four drives of the game (FG, TD, FG, FG).  Many fans are ready to move on from Defensive Coordinator Joe Barry.  As it turns out, one names started surfacing after the loss.

Leonhard joined Paul Chryst’s staff as defensive backs coach at Wisconsin in February 2016. In his year off between retiring from the NFL and being named defesnive backs coach for the Badgers, Leonhard studied college film with then-Wisconsin Defensive Coordinator Dave Aranda and.

Leonhard became the Badgers’ new defensive coordinator in February 2017, replacing Justin Wilcox, who became California’s head coach. Late in November 2017, Leonhard was named a finalist for the Broyles Award, which recognizes college football’s top assistant coach.

Leonhard would go on to have six extremely successful seasons as the Badgers’ defensive coordinator (2017-2022).  Currently, Leonhard is a senior football analyst at the University of Illinois.  Jim Leonhard took an interview with the Philadelphia Eagles for the defensive coordinator position back in February of this year, but he decided to stay in college.

The Green Bay Packers should be looking to make a change sooner rather than later at the defensive coordinator position.  Leonhard could be the guy.
