The Green Bay Packers completely revamped their defense during the 2024 off-season. Their defensive coordinator, defensive line coach, and defensive passing game coordinator all got replaced. They moved on from nearly their entire safety corps in favor of Xavier McKinney and three draft picks.
Hafley has come in and completely changed the mentality of the defense. It has been noticed by every player across the roster, but one star had something special to say about his new DC.
Green Bay Packers Star Calls Out Jeff Hafley In Best Way Possible
Matt Schneidman of The Athletic highlighted what Jaire Alexander had to say about his new defensive coordinator after six training camp practices:
Jaire Alexander on Jeff Hafley: “The first day he came in, I was in his office. I talked to all the coaches. He was very open to suggestions, ideas from me, which a lot of coaches don’t wanna hear sometimes and I just knew from that point, we’re gonna have something.”
“I love Haf. We had a good conversation yesterday, actually. Haf’s super smart. He’s SUPER smart. He’s a DBs coach. You would love to play for a guy like Haf because he’s gonna break it down and he’s gonna cater to what we’re covering …
Besides football even, me and Haf have very interpersonal conversations and I can respect that about him. It’s more than just a coach. He’s a man. I’m a man and we can have those conversations.”
If Green Bay’s defense can perform at the level that many thought they could over the last few seasons, this could be a really fun team to watch in 2024.
The offense was firing on all cylinders by season’s end. If the offense can start hot in 2024, this team will have all the pieces to make a serious playoff run.
