The Green Bay Packers may have very few veterans on the offensive side of the ball, at least at the skill positions, but that does not mean there is no hype surrounding them. Already this offseason, Brian Gutekunst, Matt LaFleur and Jason Vrable have made unprompted remarks praising the development of last year’s seventh round pick Samori Toure. Additionally, Vrable revealed in his press conference that nearly every coach on staff has come up to him to say how impressed they are with rookie wide receiver in particular.
Green Bay Packers Rookie Wide Receiver Jayden Reed Draws Comparisons to Randall Cobb

According to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic:
Packers WR coach Jason Vrable said almost every coach on staff has approached him and expressed their amazement in second-round rookie WR Jayden Reed.
Vrable told Reed that he reminds him of Randall Cobb in the way he goes about his business. pic.twitter.com/UOYy0LC255

What is notable here is that Reed is supposedly going to take Randall Cobb’s spot as the team’s primary slot wide receiver. It is promising that it appears as if Reed is showing that he has the work ethic the Cobb was famous for during his stints with the Green Bay Packers.
It should be noted, though, that this comparison does not instantly lead to success. After all, the last wide receiver Vrable and other coaches compared to Cobb was Amari Rodgers, and we all know how they turned out.
The same can be true of the aforementioned comments regarding Samori Toure. Last season, many Packers coaches and players noted how great Amari Rodgers looked and how they expected great things from him. Unfortunately, those great things never materialized and Rodgers is now on the Houston Texans.
Hopefully Toure and Reed turn out much better than Rodgers and earn that comparison to Cobb through their play on the field. The fact of the matter is that we will just have to wait and see.
