Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed will be entering his second NFL season after being productive as a rookie a season ago. Reed was a second-round pick from Michigan State and he showed signs of being the number one wide receiver option for quarterback Jordan Love.
There is no true number-one wide receiver on this roster entering the 2024 season. Green Bay did not have a wide receiver on the roster last season to go over 1,000 yards. Last season, only Jayden Reed and Bo Melton went over 100 yards receiving in a single game.
Reed has the potential to be one of the players on the roster this season to go over 1,000 yards receiving this season. He will be one of the starting wide receivers on the Green Bay Packers roster along with Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson this season.
Pro Football Focus Nathan Jahnke Thinks You Should Avoid Green Bay Packers Jayden Reed In Fantasy Football This Season
Pro Football Focus Nathan Jahnke listed a bunch of wide receivers who you should target this season in fantasy football and also who you should avoid. He shockingly said that people should avoid Jayden Reed this fantasy football season.
Jahnke said:
“Reed was a very productive wide receiver as a rookie, but the only problem was his 24 routes per game. He ran that few routes because he exclusively played in three-receiver sets.
In the preseason, he played the slot role with the starters and lead backups but never played a single snap in any of the 71 two-receiver sets with any unit. The Packers took 378 snaps in two receiver sets in the regular season, including several without Christian Watson, and Reed took only 14 snaps in two receiver sets. He was out-snapped by Romeo Doubs, Watson, Dontayvion Wicks, Malik Heath, Bo Melton and Samori Toure. Of those 14 plays, Reed was primarily used as a rushing option or rushing decoy.
It could be difficult for Reed to gain more time in two receiver sets in his second year. The Packers kept their wide receivers in their usual roles the second-most of all teams last season. Romeo Doubs was the X receiver, Christian Watson the Z and Dontayvion Wicks the primary backup to both. Wicks graded slightly better than Reed, and if anyone gains more playing time in two-receiver sets, it might be Wicks. Even Melton emerged as an option late in the season, earning an 85.1 receiving grade on 79 routes, almost all from the final four weeks of the season.”
Reed will be with the first unit this season on the Green Bay Packers. One of the reasons why Jayden Reed should be taken this season is because he may wind up being the number one option by the end of the 2024 season for this football team.
Last season, he caught 64 passes for 793 yards receiving and eight touchdowns, along with averaging 12.4 yards per reception. He also had 11 carries for 119 yards rushing and two touchdowns, along with averaging 10.8 yards per carry.
It would be a mistake to at least not draft Jayden Reed in the late rounds in fantasy football drafts. Yes, there may not be a true number-one wide receiver on the Green Bay Packers at the moment but Reed led the team in receiving yards and was tied for the most touchdown receptions on the team with Romeo Doubs a season ago.
