Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed was dealing with a toe injury earlier this offseason. On Wednesday, he was not practicing due to a calf injury. This is not the first injury Reed has been dealing with.
Hopefully, Jayden Reed doesn’t suffer the sophomore jinx that Christian Watson suffered a season ago because of the injuries. Reed was not the only player on offense who was sidelined due to injury. Offensive lineman Jordan Morgan will be sidelined for a week or so because of a shoulder injury.
The Green Bay Packers will face the Cleveland Browns in a preseason game on Saturday. We will see if Reed will be able to suit up or not.
With Jayden Reed Absent At Green Bay Packers Practice, Dontayvion Wicks Had Another Good Day
It is a luxury for the Packers to have depth at the wide receiver position. If Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, or in this case, Reed is out with an injury, Dontayvion Wicks can come into practice and fill right in. Wicks had a very good practice on Wednesday for Green Bay. Jordan Love and Dontayvion Wicks were able to connect on the deep ball.

It will be interesting to see if Reed will continue to have other injury issues throughout the 2024 season. Will head coach Matt LaFleur hold him out of Saturday’s preseason game? If he does, Dontayvion Wicks would fill in his place because he is going to play some of the starters.
Some think that Jayden Reed could be the top wide receiver in this offense, but Romeo Doubs appears to be the number one in this offense for now. This also happened in camp on Wednesday:
Love hits Doubs in red-zone drill for a TD. Doubs made a diving catch near right corner. Mobbed by the offense and WR coach Jason Vrable hopped on top.

Reed last season for the Packers caught 64 passes for 793 yards receiving and eight touchdowns, along with averaging 12.4 yards per catch. He was targeted 94 times in 16 games played. Reed also had 11 carries for 119 yards rushing and three touchdowns, along with 10.8 yards per carry. The Packers can’t afford to lose him to injury for a lengthy time. They have the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil this season.
