The Green Bay Packers won their 11th consecutive game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. It was not pretty, but a blocked field goal by Karl Brooks in the closing seconds of the game preserved the 20-19 victory. The Packers have yet to lose to the Bears with Matt LaFleur as head coach, and he took over in 2019.
Green Bay’s offense struggled for most of the game. After scoring on their initial drive, the Packers could not find the end zone again until the third quarter. And then they were held scoreless again until the final minutes of the fourth quarter.
In the NFL, though, wins are not easy to come by, and teams will take them any way that they can get them, especially against hated division rivals.
The victory was especially sweet for Green Bay wide receiver Jayden Reed.
Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Jayden Reed Grew Up a Bears Fan
Reed was born in Naperville, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. He went to high school at Metea Valley High School in Aurora, another Chicagoland suburb.
His affinity for the Bears in his youth, however, has not affected the way he has played against them as a member of the Packers.
Reed’s very first NFL game was played in Soldier Field when Green Bay traveled there to face Chicago in Week One of the 2023 NFL season. He had two receptions for 48 yards in that game.
Of course, the Packers did not face the Bears again until Week 18 last year, and it was a game that Reed absolutely dominated. He had four receptions for 112 yards as Green Bay won again and clinched the final Wild Card spot in the NFC.
In this game, coming off of the Bye Week, Reed had two receptions for 23 yards. While he was only targeted twice, one of his catches was for that first quarter touchdown.
Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Jayden Reed Trolls the Bears After the Game
After the game, Reed took to X (formerly Twitter) to post this:
HELP THE BEARRR!!! 😭😂😂
— j.reed11💂🏾 (@JaydenReed5) November 17, 2024
Many may not understand this reference. Back in 2015, there was a viral video of the musical artist Mystikal who sang, “if you ever see me fighting in the forest with a grizzly bear, help the bear.”
The meaning of Reed’s post is clear: the Packers have absolutely dominated the Bears, who will need all the help they can get to break their losing streak against Green Bay.
The two teams meet again in Week 18, the final game of the season.
