The Minnesota Vikings have decided to make another quarterback change before their Sunday night matchup at home against the Green Bay Packers. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Minnesota will start rookie quarterback Jaren Hall on Sunday night over Nick Mullens.
His last start against the Atlanta Falcons on 11/5 was shortened because of injury and that was the game where Josh Dobbs had to come in relief for him. Hall this season for the Minnesota Vikings has completed 80% of his passes for 101 yards. He has yet to throw a touchdown pass or throw an interception.
Nick Mullens has started the last two games for the Minnesota Vikings and they lost both games. The most recent one was against the Detroit Lions in a 30-24 loss. Mullens completed 61.1 percent of his passes for 411 yards, two touchdowns, and four interceptions. The interceptions are what got him benched.
Hall was a fifth-round selection (164th overall pick) in the 2023 NFL Draft out of BYU. He will get a chance over these final two games to prove himself. The Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings both have 7-8 records entering this game.
They are both mathematically alive for a wild card spot in the NFC. For his sake, hopefully, Jaren Hall can prove himself over the final two games of the 2023 NFL regular season.
The Green Bay Packers Defense Has Not Been Good Lately And Jaren Hall Could Have a Huge Day For the Minnesota Vikings
The Packers defense seems to be in turmoil at the moment. Cornerback Jaire Alexander is suspended for this matchup with the Vikings for team conduct. Green Bay’s defense has been in shambles this season with defensive coordinator Joe Barry.
They gave up 312 passing yards and two touchdowns last week to rookie quarterback Bryce Young of the Carolina Panthers. He has struggled all season long until he faced a Joe Barry defense. Players like Desmond Ridder and Tommy DeVito have looked good under Barry.
Jaren Hall could also have a huge day for the Minnesota Vikings against Joe Barry. Green Bay Packers fans want Joe Barry gone for a reason. If they were to lose in this game because Hall had a better day than quarterback Jordan Love, there would be a lot of angry fans.
This will mean that the Vikings have swept the season series from the Packers. Also, there will be fans who will want head coach Matt LaFleur gone because he decided to keep Joe Barry around for the final few weeks of the NFL regular season. This is a must-win situation for both teams and the defense needs to limit Jaren Hall’s big play opportunities to Justin Jefferson and others.
