The Green Bay Packers got the job done in Week 2, as they scored their first win of the season by taking down the Indianapolis Colts at Lambeau Field, 16-10. With the Packers’ ground attack humming and having its way against the Colts, Green Bay was able to control the contest, and it made star defensive back Jaire Alexander relaxed.
Take it from Alexander himself, who told reporters following the game how easily Green Bay dominated the Colts from his perspective.
“I was literally just sitting back enjoying my Gatorade, Alexander said in the locker room and while surrounded by the media, per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.
“Felt amazing. This might be the shortest film that we watch all season,” Alexander added.
Green Bay Packers bounced back strong in Week 2
With Jordan Love sidelined with a knee injury he suffered in Week 1 versus the Philadelphia Eagles, the Packers turned to Malik Willis as their starter in Week 2. Willis is an unproven QB, especially as a starter, but head coach Matt LaFleur appeared to have the perfect game plan with the dual-threat signal-caller under center. The Packers went run-heavy against the Colts and it absolutely worked, as Green Bay controlled the ball for over 40 minutes.
Alexander and the Packers’ defense also did their part in the relatively short time they were needed on the field, with the Colts going just 2-of-9 on third downs and committing three turnovers. After a disappointing performance in Week 1, Alexander bounced back, with the defensive back getting an overall rating of 70.7 from Pro Football Focus for his work versus the Colts.
