The Green Bay Packers have not made a decision yet about what do with cornerback Jaire Alexander for the 2025 season. It remains to be seen what they will do with him because there have been talks about either trading him or releasing him.

When the end of the season happened for Green Bay, Alexander did not meet with the media. This led to speculation about the Pacers releasing the star cornerback. Well, they have not yet. There is a chance he could be with the team in training camp, but there is a chance that Green Bay could decide to release him then. If the Packers do release him, what teams would be in play for Alexander?
NFL Insider Lists the San Francisco 49ers As One Destination For Green Bay Packers Cornerback Jaire Alexander

“I could throw the San Francisco 49ers, (Los Angeles) Rams, (Pittsburgh) Steelers and (Kansas City) Chiefs out there as teams that entered the draft with needs at the position, and didn’t take corners in the first two rounds of the draft.”
With San Francisco having tons of injuries in the past, there is a chance that they may not bring him because of Alexander’s injury history, but Breer also cited a different reason as to why it could be challenging for San Francisco. The NFL insider said,
“The question, to me, comes down to money. He’s due $17.5 million this year. And, because of his recent injury history, that’s shown to be a bit rich for interested teams. Alexander, meanwhile, would rather be cut so he can pick his destination, and he might not be willing to help with a contract adjustment to facilitate a trade.”
There is a chance that Green Bay is waiting until June 1 to cut Alexander. This remains the biggest question for the Packers entering the 2025 NFL season. Also, the Packers did not address the cornerback position in the 2025 NFL Draft. Does that mean he is staying for the 2025 season? Only the Packers front office knows and if released, the 49ers and other NFL teams would be interested in signing him to a short-term deal.
