The Green Bay Packers 2023 season has officially kicked off. The new era in Green Bay features a number of different players starting for the very first time. Most notably, it will be the first time in 31 years that someone not named Brett Favre or Aaron Rodgers has been the week-one quarterback. While that has captivated headlines all off-season, there are multiple other headlines taking place that will have an impact on the Packers’ 2023 season. One of those, possibly, includes a star defensive player who has now missed a second OTAs practice.
Green Bay Packers Star Jaire Alexander Misses Second OTAs Practice
According to an article published by Hunter Hodies:
The Green Bay Packers have a couple of players who are missing from OTAs this week.
One of them is star cornerback Jaire Alexander and it’s not known if he’s battling an injury or if he’s just skipping them on his own accord.
Alexander is one of the best cornerbacks in the game and is coming off a 2022 campaign that saw him play in 16 games and finish with 56 total tackles (43 solo), five interceptions, and 14 passes defended.
He’s been with the Packers for the last five seasons after he was drafted by them in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
His best individual season came in 2018 when he finished with 66 total tackles, (61 solo), .5 sacks, one interception, and 11 passes defended.
Hopefully, he’ll return to practice in short order.
Ryan Wood confirmed the report. It is hopeful that it is not injury related, but it is definitely a storyline to watch going forward. Jaire Alexander has proven himself as one of the best (if not the best) cornerbacks in the NFL and an important piece to the Packers’ defense.
