There will be many players on the Green Bay Packers roster who will be entering the final year of their contracts. Some of those players may not be brought back after this season and some will be brought back. A couple of players who will need contract extensions are Jordan Love and Kenny Clark.
They will get a contract with Love at some point, but it would be a surprise to see the Green Bay Packers not give Kenny Clark a new contract at some point. Clark is one of the best defensive players on the Packers roster.
He is one of the starting defensive linemen on this football team. There could be other surprises on the Green Bay Packers roster after the 2024 season.
The Green Bay Packers Could Move On From Cornerback Jaire Alexander After the 2024 Season
Some were mentioning that Jaire Alexander could have been traded from the Green Bay Packers this offseason. He missed 10 games last season. When Alexander is healthy, he is one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL.
Sayre Bedinger of Lombardiavenue.com thinks that Jaire Alexander is entering his final season with Green Bay. Bedinger said:
“It would be a little shocking to see the Packers move on from both Eric Stokes and Jaire Alexander in one offseason, but I guess you never know. Maybe they move on from one guy and not the other, but the possibility of moving on from Jaire Alexander needs to be discussed.
Alexander was given a team-imposed suspension last year and you could sense some growing friction between he and the organization (obviously) before that. Next year, he’s slated to count over $25 million against the salary cap with a potential of $17.5 million in cap savings if the Packers make him a post-June 1 release.
It’s possible we see wholesale changes at the cornerback position next offseason but I would feel a lot more confident about Alexander being cut or traded if the Packers had found someone — anyone — in the 2024 NFL Draft (at least, someone in the first couple of days).”
Alexander is 27 years old. Last season, he recorded 27 tackles, one forced fumble, zero interceptions, and five pass deflections. If Jaire Alexander can not stay on the field this season, it will make the Green Bay Packers decision easy to cut him post-June 1 of 2025.
They will most likely have to address the cornerback position anyway next offseason. For the Packers to compete for a title this season, Alexander has to stay on the field and be the shutdown corner he is known for.
