The Green Bay Packers will be faced with tons of questions about Jaire Alexander this NFL offseason. Alexander is the most talented cornerback on the team, but injuries have been a major concern for the star cornerback over the last couple of seasons.
There is a belief that the Packers will address the position this offseason. The former Louisville Cardinals cornerback did not speak to the media after the season ended. Alexander is not sure that he will be back with the Packers for the 2025 NFL season and beyond.
CBS Sports Writer Joel Corry Thinks That the Green Bay Packers Will Move Off Of Jaire Alexander This NFL Offseason
CBS Sports writer Joel Corry listed 15 players that could potentially be moved this offseason. One of those players that was on the list was Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander. Corry said:
“A divorce between Alexander and the Packers seems inevitable whether through a trade or his release. Injuries have limited Alexander to just 34 games over the last four seasons. The two-time second team All-Pro missed nine of the last 10 games this season because of a right knee injury that required surgery.”
This past season with Green Bay, he recorded 16 tackles, one fumble recovery, two interceptions, one touchdown, and seven pass deflections. Alexander is 27 years old and he has some juice left in the tank if healthy for either Green Bay or another team moving forward.
Key Numbers
There were some key numbers that CBS listed about Alexander. The key numbers were as follows:
”
- 2025 Salary Cap Number: $25,481,647
- 2025 Compensation: $17.5 million
- 2025 Dead Money: $19.092 million
- 2025 Salary Cap Savings: $6,389,647″
Green Bay would be eating a good amount of dead money for next season. However, with the way he has been injured over the last couple of seasons, it is not worth it to keep him around for over $25 million next season. He went on injured reserve toward the end of last season with a knee injury.
