Green Bay Packers defensive back Jaire Alexander and Baltimore Ravens superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson have some sort of a reunion this week, as their respective teams just finished joint practices and are scheduled to face each other this Saturday for an NFL preseason game at Lambeau Field.
Alexander believes Packers are Super Bowl-bound soon
On Friday, Alexander told reporters about a friendly exchange he had with the reigning NFL MVP, particularly about the Super Bowl.
Via Packers beat reporter Matt Schneidman of The Athletic:
Jaire Alexander said he always jokes with his college teammate Lamar Jackson that they haven’t yet met in the Super Bowl.
“I think the time is coming soon.”

Alexander and Jackson go way back. They knew each other long before they made it to the NFL, as they were college teammates. They both played for the Louisville Cardinals from 2015 to 2017 and got drafted into the NFL in 2018; Alexander was taken by the Packers in the first round of the 2018 NFL draft (18th overall); Jackson was the last pick of the first round, with the Ravens landing the dual-threat quarterback, who has gone on to win two NFL Most Valuable Player awards.
During his time with the Cardinals, Alexander emerged as one of the top downfield defenders in the nation. He finished his college career with seven interceptions and 15 passes defended. Jackson, on the other hand, had a more impactful and memorable college career, as evidenced by the fact that he won the Heisman Trophy in 2016.
Can the Packers make the Super Bowl in the 2024 NFL season?
Although not considered at the moment as a top-tier favorite to win the Super Bowl this coming season, the Packers project to be a team likely to make the playoffs again. Green Bay surprised a lot of people in 2023 when they went 9-8 in a season expected by many to be a down year for the Packers, who, at the time, had just seen Aaron Rodgers go to the AFC East via a trade to the New York Jets.
Green Bay’s chances to make it to the Super Bowl in 2025 will largely depend on the play of its quarterback, Jordan Love, but Alexander and the Packers’ defense will also be playing a big role.
