After one of the worst losses for the Packers in recent memory, the Packers welcomed four players in for tryouts. In the NFL you always want to get better. One way to do that is by welcoming in hungry players looking for their shot on an NFL roster. A lot of times these tryouts are their last shot at playing in the NFL.
Packers had four players in for tryouts:
CB Holton Hill (Texas)
S Steven Parker (Oklahoma)
DE R.J. McIntosh (Miami)
TE Miller Forristall (Alabama)— Rob Demovsky (@RobDemovsky) September 13, 2021
Let’s talk about these players and see if their tryout gets them a shot on the Packers practice squad.
Cornerback Holton Hill
Holton Hill today, was welcomed in by the Packers for a tryout. Hill is a 24 year old free agent Cornerback. At 6’2″ and 196 pounds Hill went undrafted out of Texas. Hill was most recently picked up at the start of training camp by the Colts. He was fighting for a depth spot in the secondary, but was let go when the colts cut down to the 53 man roster.
Safety Steven Parker
The second secondary player welcomed in for a tryout was Safety Steven Parker. Undrafted, Parker was signed by the Rams after the 2018 NFL Draft. Listed at 6’1″ and 210 pounds Parker has played for the Rams, Dolphins, Vikings, and most recently the Cowboys. In 2020 Parker saw the field for a few games after being activated from the practice squad for the Cowboys. But he was let go during the Cowboys 2021 cuts to the 53 man roster.
Defensive End R.J. McIntosh
The Packers severly lacked a pass rush on Sunday because of that they welcomed in Defensive End R.J. McIntosh for a tryout. McIntosh was drafted in the 5th round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. Although during the NFL Combine McIntosh was diagnosed with a thyroid condition. Because of his diagnosis and shortly after being drafted he was placed on the Reserve/Non Football Injury list. Spending 2018-2020 with the Giants, he was most recently with the Saints before his eventual release. Spending only 19 days with the Saints, he was released on August 31st.
Tight End Miller Forristall
Following the trend, Miller Forristall was also undrafted coming out of college. In 2020 Forristall played for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Shortly after the NFL Draft he was signed by the Titans as a UDFA.
