The Green Bay Packers have struggled on the offensive line and could they trade for Denver Broncos left tackle Garett Boles? Denver is 1-4 on the season and they could be potential sellers once the NFL trade deadline rolls around on October 31.
Even if the Packers are contending for a wild card spot this season in the NFC, they will need a left tackle for the long term because David Bakhtiari was lost for the season at left tackle. He may never play a down for the Green Bay Packers again.
Boles will be under contract for another season after 2023, and he is 31 years old. Garett Boles is a veteran left tackle. The starting left tackle for Green Bay is Rasheed Walker, a seventh-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He will be the starting left tackle once again for the Packers on Monday night football against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report listed Boles as a part of a potential trade chip for other teams before Week 5 started. Knox said,
“As Rapoport noted, the Broncos will at least pick up the phone if teams come calling with trade offers. Left tackle Garett Boles is someone who could generate a ton of interest in the coming weeks. Bolles is a dependable starter who has surrendered only one sack on the season thus far, according to Pro Football Focus. Though Denver did notch a win in Week 4, Bolles lamented the constant losing he’s experienced with the franchise after the Broncos’ blowout loss to the Miami Dolphins the previous week. While he’s under contract through 2024, Bolles might welcome a new change of scenery.”
The Green Bay Packers Trading for Garett Boles Would Make Sense Especially If They Want to Take the Next Jump in 2024
With the future totally uncertain for David Bahktiari in a Green Bay Packers uniform, they are going to need to solidify that position sooner rather than later. It is a good thing that Boles would not only be an option for only this season but also for next season as well. The offensive line has struggled in the last couple of games.
They want to make sure quarterback Jordan Love doesn’t take a beating. The Detroit Lions may win the NFC North in 2023, but the Green Bay Packers want to take the next jump in 2024 with the young core they have and a solid left tackle in place. They don’t want to be uncertain at one of the most important positions in football. Green Bay should make a trade with the Denver Broncos for Garett Boles.
