Former Green Bay Packers edge rusher Za’Darius Smith has requested that the Minnesota Vikings release him. Despite reports that the Vikings are not interested in doing so, Smith made a post on Twitter thanking Vikings fans for supporting him this season.
I just want to say “Thank you!” to Skol Nation for an amazing season & experience! Thank you to all of my Teammates, Coaches & the entire Minnesota Vikings Organization! 💜 pic.twitter.com/LAVAy5jptS

Packers fans, of course, remember the bad blood between Smith and the organization last year. First, Smith was not voted captain by his teammates. Then, he spent most of the 2021 season away from the team while he rehabbed an apparent back injury with his own medical team. When the Packers released him, he first agreed to return to the Baltimore Ravens, but backed out of that deal to sign with the Vikings. Now that a year has passed, he appears poised to move on from Minnesota after just one year.

Now Za’Darius Smith wants out of Minnesota?! The #Packers made the right decision not bringing him back. Younger isn’t always better, but it’s nice Green Bay went that route in this situation.

Za’Darius Smith going to the Vikings for one year just to spite the Packers then lose in the first round and ask to be released is just too funny.
