The Green Bay Packers are heading into unfamiliar territory with Jordan Love in Week 1 of the regular season. They’re underdogs to the Chicago Bears. Many Packers fans aren’t buying the propaganda that sportsbooks are trying to put out here in May. They probably shouldn’t.
The Bears are 1-9 against the Packers in moneyline bets in their previous ten meetings. But this year is slightly different in the rivalry, as quarterback Aaron Rodgers won’t be under center for the Packers. Chicago took a 20-0 halftime lead the last time the Packers were without Rodgers for much of a half against the Bears after he sustained an injury early in the game. An injured Rodgers returned in the second half to lead the Packers to a 24-23 victory. Rodgers was that good.

In his fourth season, Love hasn’t had a chance to show what he’s capable of, and sportsbooks are accounting for that. Multiple books have the Packers anywhere from +1.5-2.5 underdogs for the Week 1 matchup.
Green Bay Packers fans react to being underdogs to the Chicago Bears
It’ll be a tough matchup for the Packers in Chicago. Love will make his second career start. His first start came during the 2021 season. Love’s starting wide receivers and tight ends will be either rookies or in their second season, so Love has never started a game with them. The Packers’ defense is a considerable unknown, with defensive coordinator Joe Barry on the hot seat. The Bears’ offense is expected to be explosive in 2023.
Packers fans took to social media to voice their opinions on being underdogs in Week 1. Here are the best takes on Twitter on the Packers being underdogs on the road to the Bears.
I love how no one realizes how good Jordan Love is. Probably an upgrade over the QB play we had last year. https://t.co/M2GtIBVwNs

The only way the packers lose that game is if Fields learns how to throw and looks like Mahomes out there. Highly unlikely.

IMO, this is the perfect perception for this team to have from the outside. Quite frankly, they were considerably worse last year than outsiders perceived they would be; and the main issues were supposed to be strengths of this team: the defense, and the QB just coming off 2…

I see an 0-2 start. Bears are better than last season & Bijan is going to run over us the following week
