The Green Bay Packers have had their share of outstanding playmakers over the past three decades. From outstanding quarterbacks to elusive wideouts, the devoted fans at Lambeau Field have seen many fascinating athletes don the Packers green over the past couple of years.
One such player who captured the attention of Wisconsinite football fans for a good while was Eddie Lacy. The Alabama alum may not be familiar to newer Packers fans, but those who watched the team during the 2010s would remember him for his memorable albeit short stint at running back.
While some fans look back at his career with regret over how it ended, the squad has since found capable running backs who would handle the rush game in his stead. However, fans were surprised when the one-time Pro Bowler was involved in an altercation with the law.
Ex-Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy arrested for DUI, fans react
Packers fans were greeted with news of the former running back being involved in a DUI arrest in Arizona, as reported by FOX 5 New York’s Brent Corrado:
Scottsdale Police say Lacy was pulled over at around 10:40 p.m. on Sept. 30 near Frank Lloyd Wright and Scottsdale Road after officers responded to reports of an impaired driver.
“Officers located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop due to traffic violations that were observed by the officers,” police said.
Lacy was arrested and booked into jail. He is accused of DUI and having an open container inside his car.
While Lacy was released on Tuesday, fans didn’t hold back with their honest feelings on the former Alabama standout’s arrest.
“All duis should be extreme. Don’t drink and drive!!” one person said.
“I had to look up Extreme DUI. This category of DUI applies to a person with an alcohol concentration of 0.15 or higher. Dude was packing in some drinks!” another person added.
“Can we treat him like we (rightfully) treated the dude who killed the Hockey brothers? Or we gonna move on in 12 hours since no one died?” a third person asked.
“0.2 is crazy. The cops saved his life or the life of someone else,” a fourth person chimed in.
While his legal issue will take a while, the fact that a former athlete is caught messing around in such a manner isn’t setting a great example for the fans who used to follow his career. Everyone can only hope the former running back would get his life together.
