The Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers are seemingly at an impasse. As we sit, it seems that Aaron Rodgers either comes back to play in 2023 and is likely traded to the New York Jets, or he retires. There is clearly still a possibility Aaron Rodgers plays for the Packers in 2023, however, Mark Murphy was recently quoted saying “the team will honor a trade request from Aaron Rodgers if he wants it.”
That report was followed up with a report that a deal is essentially done between the Packers and the Jets. All the two sides were waiting for was to see if Aaron Rodgers would sign off on it. That report wasn’t accurate, and when Packers fans found out they let social media know how they felt.
Green Bay Packers React To Deal Not Being Done Between Packers and Jets Yet

This morning Tom Pelissero reported that everything is essentially still on the table for Rodgers as both sides wait to hear his plan.
“Despite a report to the contrary, the Packers and Jets have not agreed to the framework of an Aaron Rodgers trade, per sources. Both sides continue to await word from Rodgers on his plans. If he decides he wants to go to New York, then the teams will work to hammer out a deal.”
This would mean that if Aaron Rodgers is open to playing for the Jets, New York and Green Bay will still have to agree to the framework of the trade. Much talk has happened regarding Aaron Rodgers’ contract. The New York Jets don’t necessarily want to cover his entire contract, meaning the Packers will need to take on some of his contact in the trade. However, the Green Bay Packers could potentially seek more draft capital in return if they take on his contract. Green Bay Packers fans took to social media when they found out there was no deal done:
