Green Bay Packers fans are not happy with the team’s coaching decisions. After a disappointing 8-9 2022 season, head coach Matt LaFleur stated that he did not foresee much change in the team’s coaching staff. Many fans were not pleased with this, especially given the fact that the Packers defense grossly underperformed with Joe Barry as its defensive coordinator. In recent days, defensive backs coach Jerry Gray took a job with the Atlanta Falcons and various other high-profile defensive coordinators have become available. All of this has led to an outcry on social media by fans demanding to know why the team has decided to stick with Barry as defensive coordinator.

The Minnesota Vikings Are Pursuing a Coach Man Packers Fans Want

The Minnesota Vikings recently fired their defensive coordinator Ed Donatell, who once held that same role with the Packers. In their search for a new defensive coordinator, they have interviewed several candidates, including former Packers defensive coordinator Mike Pettine. However, recent reports state that the Vikings are now pursuing Ejior Evero. Evero previously was the defensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos and is considered one of the brightest defensive minds in the NFL. Denver recently released Evero from his contract and he is free to sign with any team. Minnesota has wasted no time and is heavily pursuing Evero for their defensive coordinator opening.
Packers Fans Are Furious that Green Bay Is Holding Onto Joe Barry

After the news broke that Minnesota was heavily pursuing Evero, Green Bay’s fans took to social media to express their frustration with the franchise choosing to hold onto Barry instead of going after a superior coach:
“MLF’s negligent decision making not only hired Joe Barry over Ejiro Evero but is also going to allow the Vikings to land Evero as their DC while we are stuck with Barry for a 3rd year. It’s just insane to me.”

“Packers retaining Joe Barry and losing Jerry Gray while the division champion Vikings get Evero would be a rough sequence of events.”

“Had the Packers hired Ejiro Evero instead of Joe Barry they would have had 3 more Super Bowls by now. Has it only been 2 years and 1 Super Bowl since they hired Barry? Yes. Do I stand by my statement? Also yes.”

“Twice in three years the Packers have decided they like Joe Barry better than Ejiro Evero. Is Evero that good? I guess we don’t truly know yet…but it sure doesn’t feel like the Vikings would be clamoring to being Barry in for interviews if he were available.”
