The Green Bay Packers, when healthy, have the ability to compete with any team in the National Football League. At least, that is how they looked during the latter half of the 2023 season and how many expect them to come out in 2024.
That being said, staying healthy will be key for any team trying to compete for a championship. One young weapon is unfortunately finding it hard to get on the field early in his career.
The Green Bay Packers Suggest Rookie Won’t Be On The Field For A Few Days
It is likely that Lloyd (hip) will miss a few days of practice but will not be absent for too long, according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
To begin training camp, Lloyd is suffering from a hip injury, but the problem appears to be minor. He should have no problem carving out a role behind Josh Jacobs early in his career, but he must establish himself above AJ Dillon in the depth chart without any setbacks. In addition to his explosiveness and versatility, Lloyd’s past ball-security concerns from USC (11 fumbles on 325 carries) may be the only thing stopping him from getting touches once he’s healthy.
All-rookie preseason teams for first team, second team, and honorable mention were named by CBS Sports writer Chris Trapasso. Trapasson listed Green Bay Packers running back Marshawn Lloyd as an honorable mention for the running back position.
Trey Benson, a rookie running back for the Arizona Cardinals, made the CBS Sports first team, and Jonathan Brooks, a rookie running back for the Carolina Panthers, made the second team. Trapasso said the following about the Packers’ rookie running back:
“And don’t sleep on Lloyd for a few reasons — firstly, Matt LaFleur is a Kyle Shanahan coaching tree descendent, and we know how well it schemes running-back efficiency. Secondly, Lloyd is an impossibly thick and fast runner with subtle juking skill in tight quarters.”
At the moment, Marshawn Lloyd is listed third on the depth chart for the Green Bay Packers. Nonetheless, it is going to be an exciting season for him as a rookie. Adam Stenavich, the offensive coordinator for Green Bay, is eager to use him.
The Packers have a real shot of having a three headed monster at the running back position.
