The Green Bay Packers will have a major question to ask themselves after the 2024 NFL season comes to an end. Despite being 10-4 this season in the NFL, Green Bay will need to address the cornerback position in free agency, the NFL Draft in 2025, or through trade.
One player who is most likely not coming back after the 2024 season is cornerback Eric Stokes. The Packers did not pick up his fifth-year option and he has been rotating at the position this season.
Draftcountdown.com Writer Brad Menendez Thinks That the Green Bay Packers Replacement For Eric Stokes Will Be Notre Dame Fighting Irish Cornerback Benjamin Morrison
Menendez decided to create a seven-round mock draft for the Green Bay Packers in 2025 in his latest article. In the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, he has Green Bay selecting 27th overall. With that selection, he has Green Bay selecting cornerback Benjamin Morrison. Brad Menendez of draftcountdown.com said about this selection:
“The Packers’ secondary has been solid, anchored by Jaire Alexander, but they need a reliable outside corner to pair with him as he enters his later years. Jaire Alexander’s aging and Eric Stokes has struggled to cement his role, making this a glaring need. Enter Benjamin Morrison, a 6-foot cornerback who projects to run in the low 4.4s at the combine. Morrison combines speed, burst, and excellent ball skills, making him a highlight-reel playmaker. Unlike some aggressive corners, he balances ball-hawking ability with disciplined coverage, ensuring he doesn’t allow big plays. Morrison is a plug-and-play option for a secondary in need of reinforcement.”
Morrison this season with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish recorded 20 tackles and also had three pass deflections. He is 6’0″ and weighs 190 lbs. Benjamin Harrison last played on October 12 against the Stanford Cardinal and had a season-ending hip injury.
Don’t Need Injury Prone Players
The last thing that the Green Bay Packers need is to draft players who are injured. Benjamin Morrison had his junior season cut short with the Fighting Irish. One of the reasons why Eric Stokes hasn’t been able to stay on the field is because of injuries throughout his NFL career since being drafted in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Georgia.
Jaire Alexander is also injury-prone as of late for the Packers. Green Bay needs reliable starting cornerbacks for the 2025 NFL season. It will be interesting to see if Benjamin Morrison is highly rated on the Packers’ draft board when they go and scout him at some point during the NFL offseason.
