Green Bay Packers cornerback Eric Stokes will be one of the starting cornerbacks this season. Jaire Alexander will be the other starting cornerback for Green Bay.
Stokes was a former first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Georgia. He is in the final year of his contract. The former Georgia Bulldogs cornerback is looking to stay healthy and make an impact on the field during the 2024 campaign.
Eric Stokes Is Excited To Get the Start For the Green Bay Packers Against the Philadelphia Eagles
Stokes is looking forward to starting on Friday night against the Eagles. He will either go up against Devonta Smith or A.J. Brown. Eric Stokes told Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated after he packed his equipment for the flight to Brazil:
“Man, it’s going to be so good. Just don’t understand how happy just to be back out there, knowing everything I’ve been through, knowing there’s so much stuff that I’ve went through these past, pretty much, two years, it’s going to be unbelievable.”
Stokes only appeared in three games a season ago and hopes to play in more games during the 2024 season. He will need to have a big season in 2024.
Improved During the Offseason
During the offseason, Eric Stokes showed lots of improvements during OTAs and training camp. They didn’t address the cornerback position in the 2024 NFL Draft or free agency. Stokes earned his way to the starting job through the offseason. He also added to Huber:
“Yeah, it was good. Been a good camp – been a great camp – good OTAs, everything, so I really can’t complain. Been out there, that’s the main focus, just making sure I ain’t missing nothing, pretty much no days.”
Packers fans can only hope that Stokes can stay healthy throughout the entire 2024 season. In the games he appeared in last season, Stokes recorded six tackles. Green Bay hopes he can contribute in many different ways this season.
