The Green Bay Packers made 13 picks in the 2023 NFL Draft. Of course, there are some players that fans are already higher on than others. Obviously, Lukas Van Ness will have all eyes on him as he is the team’s first round pick. Then there are the Packers’ offensive skill players that they took in rounds two through four. These include Jayden Reed, Luke Musgrave, and Tucker Kraft. All of these players are highly touted and are believed to have an immediate impact on the team. However, it is actually Karl Brooks, one of their sixth round picks, who was the highest graded player they drafted per PFF.
Green Bay Packers Defensive Lineman Karl Brooks Had an Elite Grade from PFF
PFF published an article listing the highest graded player from each NFL team’s draft class. Here is what they said about the Packers’:
GREEN BAY PACKERS: EDGE KARL BROOKS (93.0)
Brooks finished the 2022 season as the highest-graded edge defender in the FBS. His 69 quarterback pressures at Bowling Green beat out Alabama’s Will Anderson Jr., the No. 3 overall pick.
Last season, Brooks had 50 total tackles, which included 18.0 tackles for loss and 10.0 sacks. He also had four pass deflections and two forced fumbles.
Brooks played up and down the defensive line at Bowling Green, which will be beneficial for him as he fights for a spot on the Packers’ three-man line. Kenny Clark and last year’s second first round pick, Devonte Wyatt, will almost certainly be entrenched there already. However, with Dean Lowry gone and the team’s inconsistent line play last year, Brooks will certainly have a chance to earn some playing time on the next level.
