Green Bay Packers: Devonte Wyatt named as “dream” trade target of AFC contender

The Green Bay Packers are going to be busy this off-season, as they are every year, re-tooling their roster. Indeed, there are multiple players that will not return in 2026 due to salary cap reasons, and others will be signed by other NFL teams when free agency begins.

As is the case every off-season, there are numerous trade scenarios being thrown around involving several players. For their part, the Packers rarely participate in such big trades, though they did recently add Micah Parsons via trade right before the start of the 2025 NFL season.

That being said, one would be hard-pressed to recall the last time Green Bay moved a starting-caliber player in an off-season trade (aside from sending Kenny Clark to the Dallas Cowboys as part of the Parsons deal). This fact makes a recent trade scenario published by Bleacher Report all the more unrealistic.

Green Bay Packers star Devonte Wyatt listed as Jacksonville Jaguars dream trade target

In the aforementioned article, the Packers were encouraged to target veteran cornerback Tyson Campbell from the Cleveland Browns. As detailed here, though, that does not make much sense. Not because Green Bay does not need cornerbacks. They do. However, they also do not have a first round pick in 2026 (or 2027), and it is hard to see them parting with more in a trade.

Similarly, Bleacher Report naming Devonte Wyatt as the dream trade target of the Jacksonville Jaguars does not make much sense, at least for the Packers:

“As a first-rounder from the 2022 draft, Devonte Wyatt fell short of expectations early in his career and then worked his way into a pass-rushing role. He’s played 50 percent or fewer of the defensive snaps in three of the previous four seasons. In December of 2025, the 27-year-old suffered a season-ending ankle injury.

“Despite a limited role, Wyatt has recorded at least four sacks in three consecutive campaigns, but that may not be enough to justify what will be a rising cost after his cap number hits$12.9 millionthis year.

“The Green Bay Packers could look to trade Wyatt if they don’t intend to offer him an extension before his contract expires in 2027. With that being a possibility, former Packers linebacker coach and defensive run-game coordinator Anthony Campanile may push for a reunion via trade.”

Obviously, the idea of a Wyatt trade would, indeed, be a dream scenario for Jacksonville. However, it is just that, a dream.

The fact of the matter is that Green Bay is very thin at interior defensive tackle, and trading away their best player at the position makes no sense. His “limited role” during his first three seasons was nothing new for Packers draft picks, but he emerged as a starter in Year Four. Had he not gotten injured, his snap count numbers would look better.

Finally, the Packers recently picked up Wyatt’s fifth-year option. Their intention, it would seem, is to give him a contract extension eventually.

Indeed, there are very few, if any scenarios, where one could see the Packers making Wyatt available on the trade market.
