The Green Bay Packers defense once again had no answers for the Detroit Lions run game all night long. Detroit rushed for a total of 211 yards on 43 carries in a 34-20 win over Green Bay. This was the fourth consecutive win for the Lions over the Packers.
Detroit swept Green Bay a season ago, and once again, the Detroit Lions came into Lambeau Field and beat them handily. David Montgomery had big hole after big hole to run through all game long and had 121 yards rushing on 32 carries and three touchdowns. He averaged 3.8 yards per carry.

The Packers’ defense needed to stop the run heading into this game, and they couldn’t. There were many people who thought the Lions were going to play rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs more, but they didn’t. He had 40 yards rushing on eight carries.

Kalif Raymond had a rush for 30 yards, and Jared Goff added 10 yards rushing on two carries as well for the Detroit Lions.
Green Bay Packers Opponents Will Continue to Run On Them As the Detroit Lions Did on Thursday Night
This is the second time in four weeks that Green Bay lost the game because they couldn’t stop the run. They were dominated on both sides of the ball all game long, and the score wasn’t even that close. This will be the reason why the Packers will continue to lose if they can’t figure it out.
The Green Bay Packers don’t play until next Monday night against the Las Vegas Raiders on the road, but Josh Jacobs is the starting running back. He was the leading rusher in the league a season ago, and it could be another problem for them.
The Lions have a nice 1-2 punch with David Montgomery and rookie Jahmyr Gibbs moving forward. Montgomery was on the injury report heading into Thursday night, however. The Lions are in first place in the NFC North with a 3-1 record, and they feel like the best team in the division. Their next game will be at home in Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers.
As for the Packers, they are lucky they are 2-2 and not 1-3. They have a lot of work to do on defense before their next game.
